Lisa Guariglia

Lisa received her Bachelor’s degree in communication disorders and her Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from SUNY New Paltz. Lisa holds an advanced certificate in school building leadership from St. John’s University.

Lisa has professional experience in a variety of settings including outpatient hospital centers, Early Intervention, and school-based settings in New York City and New Jersey. Lisa works in the South Orange-Maplewood School District providing speech-language therapy to children aged 9th grade to 21 years and is an integral member of the Child Study Team. Additionally, Lisa performs speech and language evaluations for students in out-of-district schools and provides consultations and evaluations for in-district students with suspected childhood apraxia of speech.

Lisa’s comprehensive experience includes evaluating and treating children with articulation and phonological disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, hearing loss, receptive-expressive language disorders and delays, and autism spectrum disorder. Lisa is proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and has experience implementing auditory verbal strategies to support the development of listening and spoken language in children who are deaf and hard of hearing.

Lisa is trained in Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT), It Takes Two to Talk (“Hanen Approach”), PECS Level 1 and PECS Transitioning from PECS to SDGs. Lisa is dedicated to providing evidence-based interventions and was honored with an ASHA “ACE” Award for Continuing Education in 2024.

Lisa joined Suburban Speech Center in 2025.
